On our trip home Thursday, we had to go through or around Chicago, it's what makes the trip so unpredictable and usually so annoying. We left Ignored at 3:30 pm and took an extra 40 minutes for dinner at Taco Bell (chant ten times loudly "Taco Bell!" and you get the idea of how much my girls love tacos). We even filled up at the Michigan border for $3.69 a gallon! With the time change, it was after eight when we got to Chicago so I took a risk and took I90 all the way. If there wasn't traffic, I would always take 90 as I love the view of the Chicago skyline, the air exudes excitement. I counted myself as blessed to get all the way to OHare ( the east end of the suburbs) with only one 15 minute traffic delay. It was dark now, K was asleep, H was watching the Sound of Music ("Mom, the girl in this movie just kissed a boy on the lips and they aren't even married. It was disgusting." My response, "Oooh, that is disgusting.") Twelve miles to our exit and the traffic slowed, then stopped completely. It took me an hour and a half to go those twelve miles. I was so happy to finally drive more than 10 mph, in fact after so long, 30 felt like speeding. At one point, when I had shut my car off to save gas. I got out of my car, knocked on some one's window and asked to use her cell phone, just so my parents wouldn't worry. And yes, we still live in the stone ages of no cell phone.
We are having a restful time here (I don't have to get up everyday with my girls who never sleep past 7:15, regardless of time zone changes or staying up late). Yesterday, my parents took the girls to lunch and to Kitt Kittridge while I stayed here and did whatever I wanted! Tom is resting at home, feeling much better, waiting for test results. We miss him so much but I know he is getting better rest with a silent house.

Glad you made it safely, even if you did have a few minor delays. Keeping Tom in my prayers, I'm sure he misses you, too.
Traffic is so frustrating! How is Tom doing? The good side is you had an unexpected visit with your parents.
Laura, I just read this post and your one about Tom being ill. How is Tom doing? I will be praying.
Glad you made it to your parents house safely.
Sounds like Tom isn't the only one resting. I'm glad you have this time to relax. Got to love grandparents spending time with the grandkids.
