Parents

Jealousy is a normal reaction for me when someone casually mentions dropping their kids off for an hour, a night, or a weekend with the grandparents. I got a little revenge this weekend. Not really, but the neighbors with the local grandparents were a bit jealous of all that my parents accomplished during their visit.

My parents came Sunday evening and left after dinner today. They played games with the kids, took us out for dinner (twice), made lunch, trimmed my bushes, tested the soil in my garden (more on that later), washed windows, mixed up my gluten-free flours that I use in baking, read stories, played more games, went swimming, took H to a movie while K and I went to the doctor, and just generally supported our parenting and my mothering by helping out. It was hard to say good-bye.

Thanks mom and dad. I love you.

I'm so happy for you that your parents could come visit! My parents are only 1 1/2 hours away and that's too far sometimes!

Wow are you fast, Kara. That post had only been up for about 25 minutes.

I might be shaped like humpty-dumpty right now, but I am still FAST!

I just ran across this and thought of you...

I am so happy that you and your family got to spend time with your parents. That's the best.

Kara, I checked out the blog and I love her writing...it's beautiful and I will keep reading it. Truthfully though, I sometimes avoid celiac's advice because just a gluten issue is eaiser to handle than the gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts, almonds, and soy allergy!
