My Little Water Droplet

At H's school, each grade does a play every year. The play is usually tied thematically to a unit of study. H has been studying weather and probably knows more about barometers than I do. The first grade play this year was titled, "The Weather Show." H's roll this year was as a water droplet! I don't know which parents did the costumes, but they were impressive.
Last year in Kindergarten you could see H shaking while she said her line in the microphone. She stared at the audience, wide-eyed and terrified the whole play. This year, she lost most of that stage fright, did her dancing with noticeable enjoyment and said her line clearly and with emotion. I was so proud. Here's a link to a short video for the grandparents and aunts who want to see it. I used my camera, so the video quality is very poor, but you will get the idea. The song they are singing is about the water cycle: evaporation and precipitation. They sing things like, "even in a puddle/rive/lake we get hot, then evaporation. We go up, we come down...." H's line is "Come on drops. Let's give her a lift." It's funny how proud a mom feels about little things like a single line in the first grade play.

What a great costume. So glad that she felt better on the stage. I can't imagine going up in front of a big crowd as a little one. Congratulations.

Hadley really was great! Besides saying her line so well she didn't even try to twirl in the awesome hoop skirt! That would have been very difficult even for this 26 year old! I'm so happy I was able to come see the play.

Good to see the confidence! Does she get to keep her costume? Know how people make quilts out of old t-shirts they wore when they were kids or in high school ... you have to make one for your girls with fabrics from the billion costumes they've worn around the house. May they never forget the memories nor the fun in imagination.

My first thought was what great costumes! She did great. I like that the play had an educational theme.
