Christmas?!
In the previous few years, I have thought, "OK, the stores can't start celebrating Christmas any sooner, Halloween has to end before they have space for Christmas." I also resolved to not complain about it. My resolve broke today. Menards is already advertising their Enchanted Forest display which is already open. They conspicuously leave out the word Christmas...lest anyone think the holiday was ever intended to be about more than presents and pretty decorations. Stores have successfully made Halloween into a money maker (how many moms do you know who sew their kids costumes this year?). Non-grocery stores couldn't find a way to make money off of Thanksgiving, so they give this holiday about four short shelves of turkey and pilgrim salt shakers and a few fake pumpkins and go straight from Halloween to Christmas...So now what isn't in the store so that there is room for Halloween and Christmas?
